You are right. My interpretation for "../" was "placeholder", but it means (at
least for OOo OOo) "one level up from last folder level,
from
<file:///C:/Program%20Files/OpenOffice.org%203/program/>
to
<file:///C:/Program%20Files/OpenOffice.org%203/>
and then to 
<file:///C:/Program%20Files/OpenOffice.org%203/Basic/program/i18npool.uno.dll>

I did a test with Links in OOo Writer for a test file on my HDD and with
Seamonkey for images on my HDD and in Internet, in all cases "../" worked as
"one level up".

So the message is "legally correct", but as I believe not userfriendly, because
my conviction is that 99,9% of users will interpret the message like me (pls.
see my screenshots in attached "LegallyPersnicketiness.PDF")
