Hi alewela,

I'd like try to explain this.
Try type English text "true" in a cell. You'll see that it's format
is "Number"
It's format is NOT "Number". That setting means: if there is a number in this
cell(Please notice this setting is in the "Number" tab), the format will be
"Number". In this case, spreadsheet thinks "true" is a text, not a number. So
It's format remains "Text", NOT "Number".
I said spreadsheet thought it's a text, you can see "true" is left alignment.
All the numbers is "right alignment" and all the texts are "left alignment" by
default.
You may ask, why "真/假" are treated as logical data and "true/false" are
treated as text. That's because of your OS locale setting. Your OS must be in
Chinese locale. So spreadsheet treat "真/假" as logical. If you switch your
locale to English, You can see "true/false" is logical data, and "真/假" is text.

So in the following description:

BTW, I also tried to this: first format a cell to "Boolean Value", then
type "true" (it will be Boolean Value type), then format the cell to "Text". It
will remain the text "true". So in conclusion, "true" works very logically and
reasonably and "真" works very differently compared to "true".
The "true" you typed was still a text but NOT a Boolean value.
"真" should work the same way as "true".
"真" DOES work the same way as "true". Spreadsheet decide which one is text by
your OS locale. ;-)

We type a "真" in a cell, by default, it's a boolean value. Just like we type
"1" in a cell, it's a number by default. If you wanna get a text "真", you can
type '真. if you wanna get a text "1", you can input '1.

And notice: those formats take effects only if it is a number. For texts, the
formats always are texts, no matter what format you choose.

HTH.
