------- Additional comments from [email protected] Fri Jun 5 03:17:21 +0000 2009 ------- Trying to import custom dictionary. Few years ago imported custom dictionaries from Word to OO (?2), have converted to 3.0 & 3.1. But now they appear to be corrupted. Since there is a limit on size, I have to convert 1 Word dictionary to 5 custom dictionaries (med 1-5) which has worked fine for years until recently. Many words which I previously added now on Spell Check show as misspelled. When I open the files with a file manager (notepad / wordpad) 2 of the five dictionaries are only symbols & squiggly lines. When I put a backed up file (from OO2) into the app data-...-wordbook folder, it appears to work. But if I then add a new word during spellcheck or via Tools-options-Language-Writing Aids, Edit then reopening the file in wordbook shows it as symbols again. So I am trying to reimport data in custom dictionaries. If I make a new custom dictionary via Writing Aids above, fine but as soon as I open the file in the Wordbook folder with Notepad and make any additions, the the custom dictionary no longer appears or the words added above do not show up when I try to edit dictionary via Writing Aids above. Reading the FAQ, Forum, etc, it appears dictionaries are now via an extension. So I downloaded and loaded an English extension into Program files-OO3-Uno_packages; renamed the .aff & .dic, changed words in .dic to few of my custom words to test, changed .xml & .xcu locations & names to correlate and now it appears with the med name in my extensions. BUT it still doesn't show up as a custom dictionary so I cannot add words as I do a spell check. There has to be an easier way. Aren't there any scientific or medical custom dictionaries that can be downloaded or some way to add a custom dictionary but edit it by pasting many words rather than enter them all one at a time Joe --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
