------- Additional comments from [email protected] Thu Sep 24 18:41:31 +0000 2009 ------- Ok, so I tried a few things and here's what I discovered: I also was using a version of Firefox 3.5 from this PPA: http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa/ubuntu. This method results in "Shiretoko 3.5" being installed. It appears that's the combination that causes the problem. I tried opening the hyperlinks in the latest (updated) alpha of Karmic Koala which comes with OOo 3.1.1 and Firefox 3.5 and it worked flawlessly. It also worked if I installed Jaunty in a VirtualBox VM and used OpenOffice 3.0 and Firefox 3.0 in the official Jaunty Repos. I did not try the official install directly from OpenOffice.org.
