first of all i would recommend that you ask on the [email protected]
mailing first.

I would say you should keep the connection valid as long as you need it. I can't
say it from your snippet alone but if no reference holding a remote UNO object
is used somewhere the connection gets closed (as far as i know).
I recommend to bootstrap UNO and store the component context or the desktop
object somewhere and keep it alive as long as you need a valid connection. But
it is always possible that the office gets closed on the other side. You have to
register a CloseListener and you should throw a CloseVetoException if you don't
want that the document gets closed.

The whole process is not optimal and it's probably a good idea to handle the
Disposed Exception as well and reconnect.
