OOo uses the UI font for the formula-entry bar. And as the characters are all
from the private-use area of the font, it is
a) Very, very likely that the UI font doesn't contain any of those and thus
b) OOo has to perform glyph-fallback.
c) another font that has characters at that codepoints will very likely contain
different glyphs/characters as OpenSymbol does.
Now as the characters are font-dependent, it depends on the chosen fallback
font
on what you get in the formula-entry bar.
You generally shouldn't use characters from the private use area of a font.
