Yes, that's it: with "Detect special numbers" ON, the dates are imported as
usual.
Two questions:
1) Shouldn't this option be on by default, to preserve the previous behavior? I
would expect this with "Standard" column type.
2) I had no idea what that phrase meant--the adjective "special" is just too
vague. Can we try some other wording?
Some ideas:
(These would be ON by default to keep previous behavior)
Standard input conversions
Detect standard data types
(These would be OFF by default to keep previous behavior)
Convert numbers only
Do not convert date/time/currency or other special values
Better, I think, to keep all the options OFF to get the standard behavior;
selecting/activating an option aligns with the user's intention that some
non-standard behavior is desired.
Also, I'm afraid I don't understand the purpose of disabling some of the
standard conversions in this situation.
I'll close this as WORKSFORME; the other issues are UX.
