AW: It's a nifty numerical problem. To see what happens, copy the first example
and convert each of the two objects to curve (via context menu). On the green
shape, the bottom left point exists twice with a slight distance which cannot
even be seen wit full zoom, but exists. This can be seen by travelling over the
points of the selected points using CTRL-TAB. There are two questions:

(a) Why is that close point-pair created when converting to curve?
(b) Why is the cut-point not found?

Question (b) leads to findCutsAndTouchesAndCommonForBezier in basegfx where for
cuts close to zero or one (start or end of an edge) numerically zero or one is
taken with a numerical delta value, thus the cut is not found.

Question (a) is interesting, too, taking a deeper look...
