Verified in CWS locales33a. The language can be set in the document.
But it can NOT be set as document default language (Tools-Options-Language
Settings-Languages). -> ER: Does this depend on the availability of localedata?
I downloaded and installed the Gikuyu dictionary. As noted on the download page
[1] , it does not work as expected. After extension installation and Office
restart,in a new Writer document, Format-Character-Font-Language does NOT list
Gikuyu.
But in Tools-Options-Language Settings-Writing Aids, Available Language Modules
-> Click Edit - There, English (US) is listed two times now. This looks like a
test or a workaround from the dictionary maintainers "until Gikuyu can be set as
language".
I removed the gikuyu dictionary and disabled the original English (US)
dictionary. Installed Gikuyu again. And voila, the spell checker seems to work
(at least it proposes words that I do not understand, :-), but only if "English
US" is set as text language language.
So the Gikuyu dictionary (containing only spellcheck) needs to be adjusted so
that it can work correctly in forthcoming OOo 3.3 (resp. developer builds after
integration of CWS locales33a).
I put TL on CC here to give an advise what is wrong in the current dictionary.
His advise should be taken to the maintainers of the dictionary
