------- Additional comments from [email protected] Wed Jul 28 15:59:53 +0000 2010 ------- One thing I recommend to people is to avoid opening/editing OOo files directly on a USB stick, and instead, copy the file to a local hard drive, work on it there, then copy it back to the USB device. In other words, use the USB stick purely as a transfer device. I have no clear rationale to support that approach, and I agree, it's inconvenient, but it does seem to help. If nothing else, it means that you have a backup copy if the stick dies or gets lost.
