------- Additional comments from [email protected] Sun Aug 29 16:09:51 +0000 2010 ------- Do this: Open a Calc file. Change the file. Close Calc. Answer "yes" when it asks if you want to save changes. Open the same Calc file immediately afterward. (This is timing-dependent.) The open Calc window goes away but does not open again. Any future attempt to open any OOO application (calc, writer, impress, etc) results in some hard-disk activity, but otherwise nothing happens). At this point if you go to Windows Task Manager and look at processes you see that there are a number of OOO-related tasks including multiple soffice.exe's and soffice.bin's. Those two have more than one instance running. None of them are using a lot of CPU. To recover, you have to delete all the processes with "office" in the name. Only then is it possible to start a new Open Office application. I believe this happens with all Open Office applications, not just Calc. It doesn't happen if you close OOO without changing the file; it is important to force OOO to close a file when it closes. I don't believe you have to open the same file you just closed to make this happen, but I haven't checked that out recently. Note that I am running an old WinXP machine with 512MB of RAM. It is a slow machine; I am not sure this would be easy to duplicate with a faster machine. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
