The following steps do not save with the document: 1) Open new document and create 2 or more pages of text, or use old document 2 or more pages in length. 6) Position cursor at beginning of 1st page 2) Format > Styles and Formatting (F11) 3) Select "Page Styles" from menu 4) Right-click in "Styles and Formatting" area > "New...", then create a new page - title it Header - with "Header on" checked > "OK" 5) Right-click "Default" page > "Modify" > "Organizer" > "Next Style" assign "Header" page style > "OK". 7) Place cursor in header of 2nd page, type last name, followed by a space 8) "Insert" > "Fields" > "Page Number" 9) Save document 10) reopen document - formatting did not save These are the steps I used to create a header on each page containing my last name and the page number - except for the first page. My work around so far is to export the document in PDF format before closing it.
