I have a strong feeling that the chances of getting them to contribute towards a solution to the problem (assuming it's actually true that they are at least partially responsible for the problem in the first place) would be significantly better if I can tell them as specifically as possible what they did wrong. For example, if there are published OOo instructions for packagers that say "if you violate any of the following assumptions, upgrades to OOo will not behave correctly ..." and they have in fact changed something which violates one of those assumptions. Since I have no way of knowing what it is that would prevent OOo from presenting the wizard Frank said I should have seen, I'm going to need some guidance from someone on the inside about where to look for clues about where the Fedora folks may have gone astray (aside from the obvious blunder of replacing a production version of the OOo suite with a beta version in a major Linux distro).
