Since \n in the replace-box inserts a paragraph break - you cannot really expect
a change.
OOo behaves as documented in OnlineHelp (see the list of regular expressions).
<enter>: inserts a paragraph break
<shift>+<enter>: inserts a line break
These two are very different so OOo behaves correctly.
You can /search/ for line break using "\n" in the search-for box. But you cannot
insert a line-break using Find and Replace.

You cannot search for a paragraph break - "$" merely finds the end of a
paragraph, not the paragraph-mark itself)</nitpick>
