I am sorry but I have to point out that I just checked with Excel 2000 and Excel
2003, and BOTH use RELATIVE references, that is, there is no reference to the
sheet if the reference points to the same sheet (e.g. "=$B$2"). Please check
that yourself.

If other programs do mistakes or have a bad handling I don't think I would like
to be "in line" with them. It was the goal of OOo to be better than other office
suites, not to just mimic their behaviour.
Besides that we are obviously NOT in line with Excel, as pointed out above.

In principle yes, but the user really must have the possibility to decide. There
are currently no option buttons "absolute" and "relative" to choose from, nor is
there any obvious other hint how to decide between absolute and relative sheet
addressing.
To make it very clear: I do not believe the current situation is intuitive!
I reopen this issue for the last time now and I would like to hear the opinion
of other developers and users before it gets closed again. Thanks.
