Here is another example with the rendering problem:
size 20 { bold {bar A} = bar {left [a rsub {i j} right ] } =
left [ bar a rsub {i j} right ]}
The bar over the A is not bold.
The bar over the first a does not cover the complete bracketed expression.
The bar over the second a seems more ober the i subscript than the a
