What about the old standard 'The Fairy'? I'm not a rose person at all, but I
was given that years ago, and it has been absolutely, unfailingly, reliable,
and blooms into November.

  Subject: [Alpine-l] hardy rose

A wonderful shrub rose which has proven hardy for many years in our climate
is the Father Hugo Rose - aka Garland Rose. This is an early one-time bloomer
- no problems with bugs or disease - pale yellow, single and fragrant. Due to
its vigorous growing, it does need constant pruning back. Fran
