I'm not sure why people in Canada can grow Austin roses while I in Colorado can
only grow Canadian roses. Canadian Explorer roses and the Parkland series are
the most cold hardy roses I know. They were developed by the Canadian
Experimental stations there--similar to the U.S's Cooperative Extension.
I admit I can grow a few other hardy roses, too. Rosa glauca, for example, and
most Rosa alba selections, but for dependability, disease resistance, and
repeat bloom, I go with the Canadians. Morden Sunrise is almost perfect, and
one of the few Canadians with fragrance.
