My Swedish friend, Susann uses cotton buds to cross-pollinate...they, too, 
could be stuck in pot/ground next to the plant...what a good idea!  Cotton 
buds are very cheap indeed. Just in case we call them a different name to US 
and other places, these are the small plastic/paper sticks with tight wraps 
of cotton wool each eand...used to clean ears etc.
