I know not everyone likes to use webmail to receive messages, but this is one reason I like to use Gmail for all my email groups mail--it shows me all photos received as large thumbnails, so I can see whether it is something I am interested enough in to actually download the full-size (size of of file is shown) and very often i can see enough in the small version that I don't need to download the large version...
