We are bungling our way thru this conversation, but it is fun. I meant 'Rhododendron macrophyllum'. I remembered it wasn't 'R. occidentale' but the other western one. Jefferson was one serious plant collector. Some of his material came from Clark & Lewis in 1806, some predates it.`
I am not the biggest fan of the Big Leafs, but my ten-year old loves indumentum. His origami has switched from dinosaur skeletons to plants and flowers. It accumulates fast. send a photo or drawing and I will see if he can fold it. Larry Wallace Cincinnati North America Central
