I ran into this to our only garden? Maine Coastal Botanical garden, which is
now presided over by a Mr. Bill Cullina. When I later asked a gentleman who
owns a Nursery about it, He had been to a American Nurseryman and Landscape
Association Meeting and had listened in to a discussion or rather an
explanation of the reason for moving all American Cornus out of the genus and
relishing them according to names given once they were discovered. I may have
misspelled the name but it was labeled chaemepericlymenem or something similar,
I know this as while walking past the planting I mumbled something about it
being Cornus canadense...and spotted the name tag.......and did a double
take...in fine print to the bottom of the sign, it said...'formerly corns
canadense'..
I'm not sure why you've not been able to link to it, I shall do a quick search
and see what I have come across in past

What is your source for moving North American dogwoods to
Chaemepericlymenem? The genus is not yet included in the new Flora of
North America (under either name). USDA Plants doesn't show
Chaemepericlymenem as a synonym for a search on Cornus. International
Plant Names Index returns no results for Chaemepericlymenem. No results
from Tropicos on Chaemepericlymenem. The longer name doesn't show up in
the Washington Flora Checklist, nor CalFlora, nor e-Flora BC, nor the
Oregon Flora Project checklist. I'm sticking with Cornus.
