For a while now, the routing for recording with OSS applications has been
working right [i.e. it does the same as native apps] :-), however for
playback, the behaviour is quite different.
With OSS apps. playing a stereo file (say) on a multichannel card [at
least in the case of the Midiman Audiophile] causes the odd-numbered
outputs to play the first channel and the even-numbered outputs to play
the second channel. While this isn't a serious problem for the Audiophile
where the higher channels are not connected to anything [except with
timidity which plays 6 times too fast (it is OK when I use libaoss.so and
a suitbale .aroundrc)] I should think that it might be for some other
cards.
Is this the intended behaviour or not?
