What's your setup of "AC'97" mixer control? It should be:
amixer set "AC'97" Playback 0%
amixer set "AC'97" Capture 100%
Otherwise you'll get bad results. Unfortunately, alsamixer doesn't care
about the direction of the source, so it sets both direction to same
level.

It never worked and will not work until someone create a nice DSP code for
EMU10K1 to handle these effects.
