It does actually seem to depend on the sound font. Perhaps the size. The 8mbgmgs.sf2 causes it. If you right click the font and do "Wavetable Load" in Smurf and then play a bunch of notes.. crash.. I can't really do extensive testing, cuz everytime it crashes I have to reboot to get the drivers in a sane state again.
