I am terminally unable to get the snd-es18xx module to work. I am confident that I have an ES18xx (ISA) card since the kernel OSS module for sound blaster compatible sound cards reports that it is an ES1879. I am confident that I am using the right parameters, since I have examined those used by the OSS module (which works), as well as set them explicitly in the bios, and provided ones which agree to modprobe. I submitted a more detailed version of this bug report to the sourceforge bug-tracking system.
