Hi All,
I've been trying to install the ALSA 5.12a drivers on Red Hat 7.2. I
have an AC97 sound card so I'm installing the via8233 driver.
All three (driver, lib and utils) compiled/installed without problem
(i.e. configure, make, make install) and | have set up the modules.conf
as below. When I feed data into aplay or use alsamixer all is OK and
the speakers resond as I had hoped. However when I use the GNome CD ,
(TCD) player no sound is forthcoming. When the I use the GNome Sound
Recorder and try to play a loaded file the error,"Sounddevice not ready!
Please check that there isn't another program running that's using the
sound device" is reported. The GNome sound effects are also working. If
I start it in KDE I have the same problems. Only errors reported in
/var/log/messages are when the GNome mixer is started .
Any ideas how or what I need to do to get the CD and other utilities
going?
