I have a Fortemedia card with Red HAt 7.1, kernel 2.4x. When I "modprobe snd-card-fm801" I get:
(From dmesg) PCI:Enabling device 00:0f.0 (0104 -> 0105) PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:0f.0 AlSA card-fm801.c:946 Primary AC'97 codec not found ALSA card-fm801.c:1087 Fortemedia FM801 soundcard not found or device busy I tried loading the snd-ac97-codec first and then the fm801 module, tried loading the module after booting with "linux single", tried soft-boot from WIN98 and cold-boot with no luck in either the latest "stable" 0.5.12 and 0.9.0beta9 or numerous other versions I compiled. The alsa-oss modules load fine but /proc/asound/cards is always "no soundcards" This is ridiculous can someone please help? Here's my modules.conf (which has also been through many revisions): alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-fm801 options snd-card-fm801 snd_index=0 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-os /proc/pci: Bus 0, device 15, function 0: Multimedia audio controller: Fortemedia, Inc Xwave QS3000A [FM801] (rev 177).
