Hi,

I've experienced clicking at the _beginning_ of audio samples using
various versions of Alsa and the Linux 2.4.x kernel with the onboard VIA
686A chip.

Absolutely no trouble with my SoundBlaster 16 PCI, however. I actually
have both sound cards and drivers installed for both because I got tired
of the clicking with the VIA and the MIDI on the VIA doesn't work. Now I
use the SB.

Erik.
