Just a quick update. I added snd_index=1 and re-tried and I get:
Snd: unable to grab IRQ 0 for CS4236
snd: warning: cannot allocate IRQ for MPU401, midi port is diabled
Done
No mixer config in /etc/asound.conf, you have to unmute your card!.
So I tried running aumix and I get:
error opening mixer
Am I missing something?

The device states that it is not active, and I checked the BIOS and it
is indeed enabled.
