i forgot to mention the debian(unstable) package alsa-drivers is beta10
and yesterday i did an upgrade and i think its beta11 now.
i would prefer the debian package version if possible.

the alsa page is in fact kind of cryptic there. hardly a mention of
kernel above 2.2 just the piece about merging with kernel in possibly
2.5 ... oh, and the search doesn't work.

but thanks, i'll try and compile b12, to be sure.
