Hi I was alerted to this thread by Paul Winkler, I have an SMP system with two cpus and an audiophile 24/96. I am running a low latency kernel 2.4.18SMP and the Alsa0.9beta12 drivers, on a highly modified originally Redhat 7.x system
--Analog audio duplex and midi work fine, --I have had no system lockups like those mentioned by the two using Debian Woody. --OSS emulation also works fine. The only thing I have not gotten to work is the SPDIF but I think it is that my portable sony DAT does not provide a viable clock signal. But I will test this out before I start ranting about it. Did you try to compile alsa yourselves or have you used the deb packages? This might be your problem. Did you check the permissions on /dev/dsp0 for the OSS emulation? this might also be a problem? I would like to add that I am quite angry with the tone of these posts. Your problems, caught the attention of both Jaroslav Kysela, and Takashi Iwai who as far as I know are two of the main developers of alsa *in_less_than_a_day_*. When's the last time that ever happend to you with any product you bought? Who in their right mind would would not only volunteer to try to keep a free software project functioning, and volunteer to front every 'but on windows...' question from people who haven't been able to put the 2 and 2 together that it takes to get a free software system running. If you are not even willing to compile the stuff in the first place, or hunt out the documentation you might need for your particular setup, why do you expect the developers to make patches for you? FWIW I left this list a while ago because the traffic to noise ratio was getting out of hand, I have huge respect for the few who remain to answer questions as well as write the code so that I can have the kick-axx free software audio workstation that I have. --Marco _______________________________________________________________ Have big pipes?
