Hi, I've got an MAudio Audiophile 2496 and use the native alsa ice1712 driver to operate it. I purchased it for the midi feature but in response to this thread, I tested playing audio through it with jackd/ardour and it did not crash. I didn't hook any speakers up but there's no reason to suspect that it wasn't working perfectly.
If you want to tell me exactly what tests to try, I'd be happy to give it roll. Here's my system: Linux daddy 2.4.18-pre6 #6 SMP Thu Mar 28 18:59:39 CST 2002 i686 unknown AM's low latecy patch Alsa from CVS Mar 28 18:57 alsa jackd from CVS jackd 0.26.3 Ardour/GTK 0.221.1 running with libardour 0.518.0 I started jack with these parameters "bash# -R -v -d alsa -d ice1712" I know further into the thread there's some criticism of Alsa support that's aimed at the developers. I think it's most unfortunate that the developers have built such an interesting solution for linux audio but aren't able to support it. I suspect the developers must be excited about alsa's inclusion into the 2.5.X series kernel but they're probably harboring some concerns about user support at that stage. I hope they don't become to frustrated with the situation. I think they've produced a great solution and hope they're rewarded for the effort. I have written some notes for alsa but I am not a c programmer so it's impossible for my efforts to ever become useful. They just revisit everything that's already been said and probably aren't as good as what's already published. I guess that's the conundrum from my perspective. I've been able to help a few people install and configure alsa via email and irc but I can't do many of the interesting things like "multi" devices because I just don't understand the alsa-lib. Anyway, I won't be available today but if someone's got questions or tests that will help determine why my 2496 works, post them up and I'll try to run them within the next 48 hours. parker --- Andrew Nesbit <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi guys, I hope someone can help me.
