Look for the system logs. From your description, it is very hard to say
what goes wrong. Perhaps SuSE (I don't know its recent systems) uses
kmod to insert and some cronjob to remove modules. This plus some
problem with tagging modules as being used could possibly be the casue
of your problem. But again, without logs, it is very hard to guess. Have
especially a look to the kernel logs.
