hello!
well, i need alsa9 in order to run xine .9.12; so i fetched the rpm's (alsa,
alsa-devel, alsa-driver) from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/tiwai/7.2-i386/ and
installed them as outlined in the readme of the site.
specifically, here's what i did:
rpm -Uvh alsa.rpm --force
rpm -Uvh alsa-driver.rpm --force
now typing 'rcalsasound start' gives me

so, i guess the "rpm -Uvh alsa-driver.rpm --force" broke my kernel drivers :(
to make a long story short, i'm currently whithout sound, and it's horrible 8{
what do i have to do, so i can get sound again?
i guess it has something to do with incompatibilities of modules, but i even
recompiled the krnel plus modules, deleted the old modules and reinstalled the
new ones, and it's the same thing.
