I have debian woody installed. the kernel driver
for my VIA ac97 sound chip (via82cxxx_audio) doe snot work
properly.
I have tried to install ALSA, I did an apt-get
install for alsa-base, alsa-utils, alsa-headers, alsa-source, and I got
alsa-modules-2.4.18-686. however, I get "failure: modprobe: can not find module
snd"
what have I done wrong? am I even doing it
correctly? if not how should I install and configure ALSA?
thanks,
Jeremy
P.S, I can not wait for ALSA to be in kernal
2.6 it will make sound issues in Linux go away very
quickly.
