I am planning to use my Dell Inspiron 8200 for live real-time audio
processing. In checking out the built-in sound (without much hope
that is) I found lots of latency problems, lost frames and a hell of a
lot of electromagnetic inference from hard-drive activities, keyboard,
mouse ... everything. Touching the notebook in any way would produce a
'pop'.

So I am looking for alternative audio devices. After finding out in
another thread, that with USB my total latencies might well be up to
10ms, I am now asking for relatively cheap PCMCIA audio devices. My
largest concern here is good ALSA full-duplex support and the
inference problem. And I find it pretty difficult to find latency
information about the different sound devices ... does anyone have a
suggestion?

Stefan.
