Hi,

I've got an Asus P4PE Mainboard with onboard sound.

lspci says:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB AC'97 Audio (rev
02)

I've just downloaded alsa 0.9.0rc6 and tried to use the snd-intel8x0 driver
as described for an AD1886. Alsamixer however says that I've got a Intel
82801DB-ICH4 card, which corresponds to the lspci output with a Analog
Devices AD1980 chip.
I did not find this chip in the soundcard matrix.
The modules are loaded but there is one dmesg failure:

PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 00:1f.5
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 00:1f.5 to 64
ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:1604: AC'97 0:0 analog
subsections not ready
intel8x0: clocking to 48000

I can unmute the channels but there is no sound. xmms and artsd are playing
sound but I cannot hear anything.

I expect that there is an error with the AC97 codec.

Is it possible to play sound with this mainboard? Has anyone a hint for me?

I'm using RedHat 8.0.

Thanks
Christoph
