That does look like a very small soundfont...  Have you tried using one
of the ones from the SB Live cd just to check it isn't that?

I think you have to use the one that starts with 8 (or somewhere in filename, as comes with sb live on a cd, I don't have it handy but just try different soundfonts until one works:-), I tried the other ones and they did not work (sfxload didn't complain but there was no sound)
