this might be because of a bug of usb-audio driver.
extigy has a fairly complicated mixer structure which uses exotic
control units.  i hope this is fixed now on cvs.  please give a try.

if alsamixer still doesn't work, please try to build the alsa driver
with --with-debug=detect option, check the kernel messages and post
the result.
