Hi everybody,
I have tried for 2 weeks to get the sound to work on a laptop, but i did
not succeed. The laptop is a Toshiba portege 3110 CT that includes a
maestro 2e audio chip. It runs debian with a 2.4.20 kernel (i compiled
sound support into the kernel). I installed alsa drivers version 0.9.0RC6.
I followed the installation steps, but when i tried to load the driver
with "modprobe snd-1968", I got an error. Here is an extract from
/var/log/messages : (alsa driver is compiled with debug=detect)
---------------------

I thought a extract of lspci might also help :

I did not see any "pnp aware os" option in the bios. Just an option :
"device config". I switched it to "setup by os" and "all devices" but it
did not help.
I did not manage to get the "standard" maestro kernel driver to work, it
gave me another error message : "apu register select failed..." when i
tried to load it with modprobe.
Is there something else i could try so as to get the sound to work ?
Thanks in advance,
Alexis CUGLIETTA
ps : sorry for my bad english, i'm french :)
