Sounds like the same problem I'm having. Takashi Iwai have been working on debugging this problem, but no solution have been found yet, to my knowledge. I've got the sound to work anyway by using the 1.18 revision of alsa-kernel/pci/via82xx.c in cvs. It seems to break with 1.19. If you know how to use cvs you could try doing this. Otherwise I'd try using 0.9.0rc5 or rc6. Takashi's last words to me was to try the 2.4.21 kernel, since via823x support should be added to the kernel OSS. I haven't done so, since I don't really trust kernel prereleases. Also, I just noticed some work has been done on the via82xx.c code in cvs, so I'll just try it out and see if he got it working. - -- Regards, Tais M.
