I've set up a Midiman Midisport 2x2 over the weekend and I seem to have gotten it mostly working. It's on a compaq laptop with an ess maestro.
I'm a bit puzzled by this though -- all four ports show up as 'inputs'. Does anyone know if this is to be expected? [root@localhost bin]# cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [2E ]: ES1978 - ESS ES1978 (Maestro 2E) ESS ES1978 (Maestro 2E) at 0x3000, irq 11 1 [2x2 ]: USB-Audio - Midisport 2x2 Midiman Midisport 2x2 at 001/004 The outputs are: [root@localhost bin]# aconnect -lo client 64: 'External MIDI 0' [type=kernel] 0 'MIDI 0-0 ' The inputs: [root@localhost bin]# aconnect -li client 0: 'System' [type=kernel] 0 'Timer ' 1 'Announce ' Connecting To: 63:0 client 64: 'External MIDI 0' [type=kernel] 0 'MIDI 0-0 ' client 72: 'External MIDI 1' [type=kernel] 0 'Midisport 2x2 Port 0' 1 'Midisport 2x2 Port 1' 2 'Midisport 2x2 Port 2' 3 'Midisport 2x2 Port 3' This is also the same if I swap the card numbers making the midiman card no. 0. I can read data from port 0 of the midiman, but I'm not sure how I can get a sequencer or any kind of player to output to the midisports 'port 1' which I am assuming is an output port for channel A. (just a guess) Do I need to set up the usb port as a second sound card to do that? Any help greatly appreciated. --Carlos ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
