  Which version of timidity are you running? Is it a 2.something version? If
not go to the timidity page and fetch the newest one. Then: Did you compile
this timidity yourself? If not, the alsa-patch from Takashi might not be
included. I don't know where to get it, but if you search the alsa-user
archive, you can find it, Takashi has posted it. I think you might also take a
look at Dave Phillips' soundpage - http://linux-sound.org. there are links to
nearly everything.
  Then unpack your timidity tar.gz or tar.bz2 and apply the alsapatch. I think
Takashi has package some instructions how to do it, it is simple. then you can
just go on compile your timidity just like you would without a patch
(./configure -.., gmake, gmake install).
