I have alsa 0.9.0rc7 working pretty sexily with my soundcard, however only in analog output mode.
Many years ago (well, in december 2000) my brand spanking new computer came with the afore-mentioned soundcard and a set of sexy digital Boston acoustic speakers. However, the speakers could only be utilised if the digital output was enabled on the soundcard, simple as checking a checkbox in the Window's configurator.
Unfortunately, the linux emu10k1 driver of that era had no such option, and hence I was forced (and have been since) to use a dirty old set of labtec analog speakers.
But now, using the latest alsa drivers, I found in alsamixer a control for SB LIVE ANALOG/DIGITAL OUTPUT JACK. Oh! How my heart lunged as I saw that for the first time! Could it be possible, that I could get digital output under linux?
Sorry about the story :) But is there anyway of getting digital output on my soundcard with the latest alsa emu10k1 driver? How do I get the analog/digital output jack control to work? This seems to me like a pretty obvious question but I did search through this mailing list's archives and couldn't find anything really useful.
So please tell me, is there any way of getting this to work??
King regards, Alex MDC
