I have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1+MP3, running Mandrake 9.0. I have never been able to get tone controls working under ALSA. I can get them using the emu10k1 OSS drivers, and emu10k1 sound module, but that means no ALSA. I got the latest versions of alsa, alsa-lib, and alsa-utils, and installed them per the instructions on the details page for the SoundBlaster Live card.
Alsa is now running, but still no tone control. Furthermore, when I run the Ogle DVD Player from the terminal, after a few seconds of audio I see error after error saying "odelay error: Broken pipe". and there is no more audio. The wierd thing is when I run /usr/sbin/draksound to see the driver that is being used, it says that the audigy driver is being used. The SoundBlaster Live says that it uses emu10k1, according to http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/ Is there a compatibility issue with the SB Live! 5.1+MP3 cards? Or is there something that I am doing wrong?
