i'm trying to get the onboard sound chip on my motherboard working. all the modules seem to load OK, the card appears in /proc/asound, alsamixer displays the mixing controls and i've turned up the levels, i'm able to send data to the device with aplay or xmms - there just isn't any sound coming out.
here's what i have:
os: red hat linux 9 kernel: 2.4.20-18.9smp alsa version: 0.9.4 (freshrpms.net RPM build) alsa driver: intel8x0 motherboard: gigabyte ga-7dpxdw-p
i have another card in the system that works fine (Delta/66).
a possible side-step around this problem: if anyone knows how to get "RTCW:Enemy Territory" working with the Delta/66, I won't need to set up the intel8x0 :-)
any help much appreciated.
