AFAIK the ICE1712 doesn't support interleaved samples in hardware,
while xmms doesn't support anything but interleaved when mmap-ing.
ICE1712 chip uses the interleaved stream, but it uses 10 - 32-bit only -
channels (which is quite different that other hardware).

I have been trying several times to make id's games (like rtcw) work
with my ice1712-based card (Terratec DMX 6fire). It always complained
something about not being able to use mmap mode (sorry, but I can't
remember the exact error message right now). Does this mean that I have
to give up trying to make these games work?
