I do have some experience with c and also with manipulating audio buffers, streams, etc. But I have not the slightest knowledge about kernel module hacking or programming hardware drivers. What do you experts say, is making mmap work for that driver a "high-level" problem, that can be solved with general knowledge of how audio programming works, or is it something where I really have to understand how every aspect of the card and the driver works.


However, you can try "artsdsp -m" as a work around. How does it sound?


Oh thank you, I forgot that option. I tried it once, but at a time when artsd wasn't running very good at all. Now i have it working again and I will try it. How much extra latency will occur when using artsdsp?
