I have an Audigy 2 card which works for all sorts of playback. However recorded sound is heavily distorted. I have yanked all the alsamixer sliders upp and down in all possible constellations, the input remains very distorted, even if the sound is very weak. The clipping becomes easily visible on the waveform when I record to i.e. ardour. I read on the wiki that you should lower the bass a bit, I set both bass and treble to zero, which made it a little beter, but it still sounds pretty awful. Grateful for help
